All raw and cooked food waste can be composted in a Ridan. Fruit, veg, greens and prep compost most easily, however starches, meats and dough take longer to digest, much like our own digestive systems, so a mixture of both types of foods is essential.

Dead leaves, straw, paper, cardboard and tissue can be composted by layering them into the Maturation Box, between the compost as it is loaded, this works better than adding them to the Ridan. For more information go to: How the Ridan Composter works

Which Ridan is right for your catering business?

We offer a choice of two Ridan Food Waste Composting Machines, to accommodate catering businesses of all sizes. The best way to decide which size of Ridan you need is to measure how many litres of food waste your business produces each week. Here is a guide:

Some catering businesses have purchased two or more Ridan Pro 400 Composting systems to cater for larger numbers. Of course, please remember that other factors need to be considered too, such as:

  • How efficient are the catering kitchens?
  • How much fresh produce is prepared on site compared to how much is bought in?
  • What sort of foods are being thrown away? Vegetable matter, fruit and greens compost easily and quickly, but meat eggs and dairy take longer.
