Composting at Colyton Grammar School
The kitchen at Colyton Grammar School feeds up to 700 students and staff every day; all of the resultant food waste is being turned into compost for use on school gardens using a Ridan system. This has helped Colyton to gain it’s 3rd Green Flag award and attain recycling levels of 67% since the Ridan system was installed in 2012, saving money and also saving the planet. No power is required by the Ridan system, so the running cost is less than £3 per week as well as being quick and simple to use.
