Son Amar is so much more than a glamorous evening show and dinner venue in beautiful Mallorca, it is also a shining example to all in the hospitality and catering industry of environmental awareness and action. Every area of the business has been carefully considered and adapted to minimize consumption, pollution and waste, what can’t be avoided is carefully sorted and recycled before being reused on site if at all possible.
In over a half century, Son Amar has gone from a humble outdoor barbecue dinner with a hog roast, to an amazing 4000-capacity auditorium with state-of-the-art light and sound that give Son Amar the reputation of rivaling the best shows in the world.
At the end of each season people always say: “The show was incredible, how will you possibly improve it for next year?” To which the Show Director always replies “You will have to wait and see!”
Owners Tony and Margaret Whittaker first arrived in Mallorca in 1996 and fell in love with Son Amar. Eleven years later they were offered the opportunity to buy the amazing theatre that had stolen their hearts and seized the chance to make their dream a reality.
Together with their son Ben and their dedicated team of directors, managers, staff and artists, the show has gone from strength to strength, winning Trip Adviser’s Certificate of Excellence year after year. Son Amar the house and estate has expanded and improved to create a unique venue, which now caters for every sort of special event, from weddings and private parties to corporate events, product launches, concerts and conferences. The work continues again this year with more areas being developed and with the conversion of the manor house to an intimate 5 star agro-turismo hotel.
